SouthSouthNorth 1 - SSN1 Project
SouthSouthNorth (SSN) is a network-based organization operating in Bangladesh, Brazil, Indonesia and South Africa. In SSN 1 project, SSN built capacity among public and private stakeholders to deal effectively with the Kyoto Protocol's Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) in its four countries of operation. SSN promoted sustainable development as a fundamental pillar of the CDM in order to deliver concrete and significant benefit to the South.
Objectives:
- The identification, development of project design documents, facilitation and final transaction of a least eight Clean Development Mechanism Projects in the four countries of operation.
- Assisting each of the four host governments in developing/testing a Designated National Authority (DNA) to administer and approve CDM Projects.
- Capacity Development for the CDM on an international level, including the development of a comprehensive CDM guide, based on our experiences. This SSN CDM Practitioners'Practical Toolkit is now freely available at www.cdmguide.org
