Centre for Integrated Studies on Climate Change and the Environment - Centro Clima/COPPE/UFRJ Who we are and Objectives We are a specialized centre in the research and development of projects and scientific studies in the fields of Climate Change and the Environment, to support the institutional capacity building, with the aim of disseminating knowledge to the social agents of the government, non-governmental, private and academic sectors, both in national and international levels. Centro Clima was established in December 2000, on the initiative of the Environmental Quality Secretariat for Human Settlements of the Ministry of Environment - SQA/MMA, through an agreement with the Institute for Postgraduate Studies and Research in Engineering – COPPE of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro - UFRJ. Dissemination of the knowledge generated by Centro Clima will provide input for developing public policies and non-governmental initiatives that make use of the opportunities provided by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change to promote sustainable development in Brazil. Among its objectives, Centro Clima aims to support the Brazilian Climate Change Forum, enabling to broaden the participation of the country's various social agents. Cooperation Agreements Centro Clima seeks to catalyze the activities of the scientific community, non-governmental organizations, local, state and federal governments in the area of Climate Change by negotiating cooperation agreements and partnerships. |
